City of Toccoa recognizes Sixth Grade Essay Contest Winners
Third Place Winner: Steven Whitworth
If I were Mayor of Toccoa, I would begin by accomplishing three things. With the help of our community, these goals would be possible. I think these things would make our town a better place to live.
First, I would build a decent animal shelter where people could adopt a pet. The shelter would always be a clean and healthy place with plenty of care for the animals.
The second thing I would do as Mayor would be to build a homeless shelter. Homeless people need a place to go especially during cold weather. I would begin a plan for vegetable gardens to be planted at the shelter. The gardens could be taken care of by the people who live there, and the vegetables would be an extra way to provide food.
Finally, the third thing I would accomplish as Mayor would be to appoint a "Clean-Up Toccoa" team to clean and beautify our town. Trees, flowers, and shrubs would be planted on the sides of roads and around businesses. I would begin plans for a new city park. The park would have a huge playground, bike trails, picnic areas, and a track that would surround the park for walking and running.
As mayor, I would work with the community to accomplish these goals. I would complete all these projects to make our town a better place to live and a town of which our citizens would be proud.
