If I were mayor of the City of Toccoa, there are a few things I would like to do.
I would work closely with the county to improve our recreation facilities like fixing up ball fields, like Allewine Park, put more playground equipment in Henderson Falls Park and more benches for the parents to be able to watch their children play. Also try to reduce the cost of the programs at the recreation department so that all children who want to participate can.
I would work closely with the Chamber of Commerce to bring more retail and industrial business to our city. I would bring retail business into the downtown area and to the many preexisting building that are already here and try to clean up some of the empty shopping centers we already have. This way people coming in can see what Toccoa has to offer. I would try and get some industries to come to the area so that we can reduce our unemployment rates and help put people back to work.
I would work with teenagers so that we could come up with a place for them to hang with their friends. That would be safe and secure, to keep the amount of trouble and try to reduce the teen pregnancy and high schools dropout, and show them how important an education is now days.
I would make sure that more programs for our senior citizens would be taken care of like Meals on Wheels, and a free shuttle service to take them to the doctors, grocery store or to just get out of the house, and set up a program to have the Senior Citizens come into our elementary school because there is a lot of children could learn from them.
If I were mayor of the City of Toccoa, these are just a few things I would like to see done so that all our citizens would benefit, and be proud to call Toccoa home.
