Why should you annex your property?
People who own property inside or on the fringe of Toccoa City limits could request to have the property annexed into the City and take advantage of the City’s police and fire protection as well as garbage hauling services.
Recently the Stephens County Board of Commissioners voted to implement a “pay as you throw” garbage system at all county convenience sites. Under the system, county residents are required to purchase stickers to throw their garbage away.
However, the City’s garbage system is totally independent from the county. The City has its own collection system and transfer station. Therefore, City residents do not have to purchase stickers or even place their waste in bags. The City provides residents with a rollout garbage can and a recycling bin.
City residential customers pay a monthly fee of $15 for a weekly pickup of garbage, recycling, trash, brush and leaves in season. (Leaf pickup service usually begins on Nov. 1 and end Feb. 28).
