The Stephens County Historical Society operates the Currahee Military Museum, an award-winning museum featuring authentic exhibits and pieces that focus on the men that trained at Camp Toccoa at Currahee, later recognized on HBO’s eponymous Band of Brothers.
The Currahee Military Museum also features a section focusing on local history, as well as exhibits on military history through the decades. The museum includes rotating exhibits, and a gift shop is host to memorabilia and other items.
The Stephens County Historical Society also helps to implement the nationally recognized Currahee Military Weekend, which takes place the first weekend in October, and features a run, swing dance, banquet, battle reenactment, and more.
The Stephens County Historical Society also helps to oversee the restoration of Camp Toccoa at Currahee, a 501c3 nonprofit whose goal is toc celebrate the lives and contributions of the 6,000 “Toccoa Men” who trained on Currahee Mountain.
