Background: After a 32-year career in the chemical and pigments industry, Hellenga is currently the Quality Supervisor for Parkway Products in Westminster, South Carolina.

Education: A lifelong resident of Toccoa, Hellenga attended Toccoa High School and graduated from Stephens County High School. Hellenga graduated from Young Harris College with an A.A. degree and received a B.S. from the University of Georgia.

Previous Political Experience: Hellenga has served two terms on the Stephens County Soil and Water Conservation District as a Supervisor. First elected in 2006, Hellenga was reelected in 2010. Hellenga was appointed to the Toccoa Planning Commission in 2012. He currently serves on the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter Board. He was elected to the Toccoa City Commission in 2013.
